Airport Transfer Prices from Kent: What You Pay For and How to Compare Quotes

What actually sets the price of an airport transfer from Kent, what a fair quote should include, the extras to check for and how to compare transfers with parking.

"How much is it to Gatwick?" is the question we're asked more than any other. It's a fair question, and the honest answer is that airport transfer prices from Kent depend on a handful of things: where you're starting from, which airport, the size of vehicle and whether you're coming back with us. Once you know what those are, comparing quotes becomes much easier, and you're far less likely to be caught out by a cheap price that isn't what it seems.

This guide explains what you're paying for, what a good quote should include, and the extras worth checking before you book.

The Things That Actually Set the Price

The airport and the distance. This is the biggest factor. From most of East Kent, Gatwick and London City are the nearest; Heathrow, Stansted and Luton are further and usually cost more. A transfer from Ashford will cost less than the same airport from Ramsgate simply because it's a shorter drive.

The vehicle. A saloon for two people costs less than a people carrier for six. If you have a lot of luggage, an estate can be a good middle ground. Tell us how many cases you have, not just how many people.

Single or return. Booking both legs together is simpler and means your return is tracked and planned from the start.

Anything outside a straight journey. Extra pick-ups on the way, a detour or waiting well beyond the free period all add to the cost. That's fair, as long as it's agreed upfront.

What doesn't change the price with us: the time of day, the day of the week or the traffic. We don't add surcharges for 3am collections, and if the M25 is at a standstill, the price you agreed is still the price you pay.

Fixed Price Versus Meter

A metered taxi to Heathrow might look cheaper on a quiet Sunday morning. On a Friday afternoon with an accident on the M25, it can cost a great deal more, and you won't know how much until you arrive. A fixed-price airport transfer removes that risk entirely. You know the cost before you leave home, which makes budgeting for a holiday or business trip much simpler.

What a Good Quote Should Include

When you compare airport transfer prices, check that each quote includes the same things. Ours always include:

Flight tracking on return journeys, so a delay doesn't leave you paying for a driver's wasted time.

Free waiting time after landing: 45 minutes for international flights and 30 minutes for domestic ones.

Meet and greet in the arrivals hall and help with luggage.

Child seats on request for families travelling with young children.

A quote that looks cheaper but leaves these out can end up costing more, especially if your flight is late.

Extras Worth Checking

A few costs sit outside the journey itself, and it's worth asking any provider how they handle them:

Airport drop-off and pick-up charges. Most London airports now charge vehicles to use their forecourts and short-stay car parks.

The Dartford Crossing. Journeys to Stansted, Luton and parts of Essex cross the Thames at Dartford, which carries a charge.

Waiting beyond the free period, extra stops or route changes you ask for on the day.

Our terms and conditions set out how these work, and your quote will tell you what's included.

How a Transfer Compares with Parking and the Train

For a week away, long-stay parking at Gatwick or Heathrow can run to £80 to £150, before fuel, the shuttle bus and the drive home after a long flight. For two or more people, the train is rarely cheap either once you add peak fares, the Underground or an airport express, and a taxi to your local station. Put those numbers side by side and a fixed-price transfer is often closer than people expect, and considerably less effort.

How to Get an Accurate Quote

To give you a firm price straight away, we need your collection address or postcode, the airport and terminal, your flight times, the number of passengers and cases, and whether you need a return. If you're not sure of something, give us your best estimate and we'll confirm the details later. For more preparation tips, see our airport checklist.

Does Booking Early Make a Difference?

The main benefit of booking early is certainty. School holidays, bank holiday weekends and early-morning slots in summer are the busiest times of year, and the earlier you book, the more likely it is that the vehicle and collection time you want are available. For a Saturday morning flight in August, we'd recommend booking as soon as you have your flight details.

Sharing the Cost

Because the price is per vehicle rather than per person, an airport transfer gets better value the more people share it. A family of four, a group of friends or colleagues on the same trip all pay one fixed price between them. With a people carrier taking up to six passengers and their luggage, the cost per head is often lower than the train, and everyone travels together from door to terminal. If you're travelling as a group from more than one address, tell us when you book and we'll include the extra pick-up in the quote.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the price per person or per vehicle?
Per vehicle. Four people in one car pay the same as one.

Will I pay more if there's heavy traffic?
No. The price is fixed when you book.

What if my flight home is delayed?
We track it and your driver arrives for the actual landing time. Free waiting time starts from landing.

What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations more than 24 hours before collection are free. Between 6 and 24 hours a fee of up to 50% may apply, and within 6 hours the full fare may be charged.

Do you charge extra for early-morning or late-night journeys?
No. A 3am collection costs the same as a 3pm one.

Is a return transfer cheaper than two singles?
Booking both legs together is simpler and guarantees your return is planned and tracked from the start. Ask for a return quote and we will set out both legs clearly.
